White
German Shepherds.
White has not been considered an expectable color among German Shepherds. However as of late they are being recognized as a separate breed known as the American White Shepherd. This breed was the result of a recessive gene put into the breed gene pool by in the early 20th century.
We do not offer white German Shepherds at Heritage Kennels. Our experience with the breed has been that they do not have the same temperament as the traditional German Shepherd dogs.
The white coated German shepherd was disqualified from the German Shepherd Dog Club of Germany breed standard in 1933. An off white color has also occurred in a bloodline of the German Shepherds which called a Panda Shepherds. Panda Shepherds are 35% white with the remainder of the color being black and/or tan. This Shepard has no white German Shepherds in its ancestry.
